I've been trying to work out which phones TomTom mobile might run on regardless of what is officially supported at the moment.
This list is probably way off so please correct me where I'm wrong

Instead of listing individual phone models you should just assume that it works on the following operating systems
- Symbian series 60
- Windows Mobile Smartphone 2003 (2002 is unconfirmed) _________________ Lutz

I think a list like this is realy relevant.
There should also be be a coulumn where the added memorycard will fit in the phone or not.
BTW
Nokia 6670
Sony Ericson p900, p910

Agreed except that I originally came to the forum searching for reference to a phone that I hoped would work with TomTom mobile. Not finding anything, I made a list of series 60 symbian phones then added a few WM2K3 phones so that anyone else who does a search for their phone to check compatibility would hopefully find this thread and read any comments left regarding their phone.
So in short I'm hoping that people will post their experiences of hardware compatibility to this thread. Perhaps we could keep a current list of compatibile hardware continuously updated here (I'd be happy to edit the first post on an as needed basis if I had edit rights to my own posts) |

| My understanding is that TomTom require Series60 v2.0 (and not the earlier versions), which rules out most of those phones.
It leaves 6600, 6630, 6670, and 7610.
TomTom state it only works on the 6600, and I think it might work on the 7610, but as the 7610 only takes the RS-MMC (smaller memory card), TomTom do not claim compatibility as obviously the memory card does not actually fit!
Whereas (for example) Route66 is supplied on RS-MMC (with an MMC adaptor) and hence they can claim support for both.
If someone wants to send me a copy of the software and hardware (for TomTom appears to limit the software to only working with the TomTom GPS) then I can test on a Series60 v1.2 phone... |

This is exactly the sort of dialogue I was hoping to start
Apparently the latest update for tomtom mobile will allow other GPS receivers to be used. So perhaps all you need is to borrow the software in order to test on a 1.2 phone? I'll drop you a private message.
(Please don't post direct links to the Traffic patch; at the moment, the only way that the patch is available officially is via My TomTom for those with a Traffic trial or subscription. As this is the policy TomTom have decided on for now, I've edited out the links from this post - DavidW) |

100% works on the 6600 , 6670 & 7610 as i`ve used tomtom-mobile on all these models
looking at the list in posts above
tomtom-mobile will NOT work with the 7650 as it DON`T take mmc cards
the 6630 takes rsmmc but the rsmmc cards in the 6630 are a lower voltage so normal rsmmc cards that are used in the 7610 or 6670 won`t work on the 6630 _________________ iPhone 3Gs 32GB

Speaking personally, it seems a shame that TomTom don't make Mobile available in a way that users of all the Series 60 phones can get it on an appropriate memory card, and have a full compatibility list.
With my moderator hat on, I've had to edit out direct links to the Traffic patch from a post in this thread. TomTom have decided only to make the link available from My TomTom for those who have a Traffic subscription, so we've had to settle on upholding that policy.

And FWIW it works on Smartphone 2002, this is the OS that the Orange E200 and variants uses. The C500 uses Smartphone 2003. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Thanks David. I had no idea about any possible issues linking to an update I'd seen posted elsewhere.

Well I can confirm that it works on the i-Mate SP3i (aka Qtek 8020) as I have it running here just fine.
Also, TomTom Mobile does NOT work on the Sendo X as it requires Series 60 2.0 and the Sendo X uses Series 60 1.2

Thanks, I'll update it. I guess you're sure about Series 60 1.2 devices not working? |
