Garmin GPS 12 and GPS 12xl difference in data cables

Hi,

About two weeks ago I have posted an topic about using my Garmin GPS 12 connected to my Toshiba E750.
I have since ordered a set of cables but they don't seem to fit. I was told that the GPS 12 and the GPS 12xl use identical plugs but this plug doesn't fit my GPS device. My GPS 12 needs a plug for 5 pins whilst the plug for the GPS 12 xl has got only 4.

Would you be able to advise me on the difference between the two and whether there is any other solution than returning this set of cables back to the supplier/

I do not have the exact detail on hand but the 4/5 pin round plugs difference is because of different power input for different GPS.

The extra pin in the centre is there so that you do not plug in the wrong power cable.

If it is strictly data and no power involved, it should be 5 pins so that it fit ALL GPS.

If your cable has power input and it does not fit, it is there for the purpose so it is not the right one (power input).
