|
|
I have a Medion from Aldi
I am trying to install Tomtom onto a new 512 SD card.
During the installation of the Uk maps onto storage card I get an error saying unable to access storage card, and stops installing. I've retried it a few times but get the same error.
The SD card is a Kingston bought from Dabs.
Any help appreciated. |

Tell the TomTom installer to install to a location on your hard disk (the Desktop is good, as the next stage is then easy).
Find the map folder, right click on it, choose Copy.
In ActiveSync click Explore, then My Pocket PC, then the root directory of your storage card. Right click in this window, choose Paste.
Alternatively, if you have a memory card reader, use that - it's much easier!
This is a known problem with ActiveSync when copying large files - doing things the way described above seems more likely to work.

Thanks for the advice i'll try it shortly. Before that, I also want to make a complete backup copy of the PDA as it is presently with the Medion Navigator/ POI Warner software installed, just incase the Tomtom fails to impress. What is the best way to Backup, i'v noticed that activesync has the facility to do this, is this the best way? |

ActiveSync's backup feature is flawed in various ways. Use it if you must - but it can't be recommended.
The best way to back up in my opinion is to use Sprite Backup. That said, you should be able to reinstall the Medion software from what was supplied with the Pocket PC. Indeed, memory permitting, it should be possible to have both Medion and TomTom software installed, and to choose which one you want to use.
