Hooking up Palm IIIxe with Garmin Etrex.

Going to buy the GEP03 GEDC + GP03 Palm III to Garmin E cable here:

I want to be able to transfer data back and forth between Palm and Etrex at the very least. Is there Palm software out there that I need to do this? If so what is available? Is there any freeware stuff out?
