what is latest verion

Hi just bought a version of kane today at a market it has destinator 1.8.2
built in and another disk to upgrade to 3D it is old unused stock
I was curious to know if it is outdated don't expect it to be latest version
can someone tell me how far out it is not much info on kanes web page
seems to be a problem with it I got errors all the time .

Should have said the main disk is car pilot with destinator 1.8.2
on it

The latest version that Kane are doing is the Navigon upgrade.. good move, costs about £140 with street-level Western European maps as well. The Navigon software is fantastic, nuff said...

Have we established whether or not Kane are still in business, and whether they're still able to unlock software for new purchasers?

I have no direct information, but there were a couple of worrying posts here.

Kane Wireless Ltd, the company that licensed and distributed Car Pilot and Kane Navigation for Palm has gone into liquidation. The brand name has been acquired by another company and a new range of products are soon to be available on the Kanegear website. As far as getting unlocked goes, any Kane Car Pilot software is usable without the need to unlock it and SpeedMinder will be unlocked. Kane Navigation for the Palm OS software is possibly a problem area as the new company has no relationship with the software licensee. New unlock codes cannot be generated, there is only a database of previously issued unlock codes available, reminders can be sent if need be to customers who can be proven to have previously registered and simply need reactivation after a PDA fault or hard reset.
