I see that SmartST V3 is available for Pre-Order online now.
It is shown as having UK maps to street level and EU mainland as base maps (Main roads only).
I would go for this but I would want to be able to use my V2 EU maps as well as the new V3 UK maps.
Does anyone know if this is possible, or would i be better off waiting for the complete map package to be announced?
Why is it that the Navman site is so slow to publish new product info?? |

Navman have not released the maps yet. When they have, expect a news release on their website. Many e-tailers are advertising Navman products for pre-order. That suggests that the release is imminent, but they could just be trying to secure your custom. _________________ Tim |

MattB,
I guess you've been looking at http://www.globalpositioningsystems.co.uk/p2588 to find this information.
If you read the very last sentence in the description they tell you that
"Additional maps can also be purchased covering the Europe (Street Level), Australia and US". This sounds to me like the maps are available already, but who knows...?
Let's see if Navman goes public with this information soon...

Plenty of other sources, too. Here's one, for a start. _________________ Tim |

OK, so they are planning to release Add on European maps, but why not let me continue to use the European maps I already have. I use them less than the UK one, so would be happy to accept they aren't the latest up to date versions.
Ideally I'd like to buy the UK V3 software and when I need to use a European mainland map, I'd like to be able to use the V2 map versions
Too much to ask? |

I understood that this was the case - as long as all the maps in use were the same version. And that I get the impression means that you can have both V2 & V3 loaded - as long as only either V2 or V3 were ticked. Having said that If it means having different memory sticks then so be it! _________________ Mark

Hi Mark
I did contact Navman recently over this one and they confirmed that you can install the V3 UK Software and still use your V2 Maps. It's seems very much like the situation we had when we were trying to run the Navtech V1 maps on the V2 upgrade, except this time both versions of maps are supplied by TeleAtlas.
When Navman make V3 available, which hopefully will be , I'm sure at the speed the forum works, it won't be long before there is some positive feedback.
Regards

OK guys,
You can use all maps from v1.96 and v2 with smartSTv3 provided they are registered and activated.
However, you cannot have different versions active at the same time on your device. _________________ Ian.

What about improved reliability? V2 seems to have a lot of trouble connecting to Bluetooth receivers (the software locks up frequently). |

Having just upgraded to v2 (free upgrade, disks sent by Navman in March, just never got round to it...), I haven't noticed any degradation in the reliability of the BT connection.
While we're (I'm) on the subject, does anyone know how to get my v1 voices back? (Now I've asked the question, I'm off to do a search!!) |
