Question about trip planner.

I saved 4 waypoint (1st is the origin and 4th is to be the destination) in planner mode. I can view the trip with the 4 waypoints in planner mode.
After switching to navigation mode, and click navigate to the 4th point, the route does not go (include) through waypoints 2 and 3, but goes directly to point 4, (a different route) excluding points 2 and 3.
If I chose then point 2 as destination and then set point 1 as origin and then choose point 3 as destination (and point 2 as origin) and so forth, I can get from point 1 to point 4, through point 2 and 3.
What is purpose then of the trip planner, if it does not automatically navigate you through point 1,2,3 to point 4.
I can save point 1,2,3, and 4 in my favorites and navigate first to point 1, then point 2 and so forth, instead of using the trip planner.
Is it possible, in the trip planner, to set up the final destination, and the program automatically to direct me THROUGH points 2 and 3 to point 4 (final destination), without manually setting up each point (previous to point 4) as final destination in a stepwise approach.

Trip planning thru waypoints is poor at best in D3. After you create a trip, Select Destinate >> Trip Planner >> Select your trip >> then Select Waypoints >> select the FIRST waypoint. D3 will navigate you to that point and then automatically recalculate and send you to the 2nd point and so on until it gets you to the end of your whole trip.

It will also only give you ETA to the next waypoint ... not the whole trip.
