The simple way is to use a card reader,
1/ Put the original card into the reader
2/ Open Wndows Explorer
3/ Go to Tools/ Folder options and select the view tab, make sure the "Show hidden files and folders" checkbox is ticked
4/ Select the card and copy the contents to the PC, (create a folder to put the contents into).
5/ Replace the original card with the new one in the card reader.
6/ Copy the files from the created folder back to the new card, make sure the file structure remains the same.
NOTE you need to copy the contents of the PC folder, if you simply copy the new folder it won't work - Mike |

Can you use, and see the Maps?
If it works, it will be alright to Copy all the Files on the SD Card.
Follow Mike's Instructions above, but use the Classic as a Card Reader.
It will be slower, but it works.
If it doesn't work at present, what version did you have on the Classic, and which Map Version on the SD Card?
Come back with this information and we'll see what we can do. _________________ Richard

Your TTG acts like a card reader. When it is connected to the computer via the USB cable, it will show up in Windows Explorer as a new drive. You will be able to read all the files that are on the card.
Follow mikealder's instructions and copy (by drag and drop) everything EXCEPT the map folder from the original SD card to your computer. Then swap in the new card and copy it back onto the new card.
You can then get a fresh copy of your map by running the installation CD. |

Forgive my ignorance.... did the Classic have a copy of the map on the CD?
None of the more recent models do. |

Right guys sorry to seem annoying,
this is the situation
1. removed old sd card inserted new blank 512
2. inserted tomtom classic disc and installed map of GB.
3. had to go online and get the activation key.
4. installed the postcode facility
5 installed some voices and the 7meg update on tomtom home for the version 6.150
LOOKS awesome compared to the old 5. something or other!
seems all fine so that should be good as new shouldnt it?
if so im going to buy the camera locations from you guys and install them! |
