TomTom incompatible on a Ipaq 2210 ??

I am unable to restore a backup from my sd card useing ipaq backup on my ipaq 2210, the ppc hangs after a soft reset on boot up, causing me to have to do a hard reset & losing all my files. I understand it is down to a incompatability problem between the tomtom nav software & the 22xx series, causing the following dll files to be corrupted :- tttoday, powercheck, ttbtdev.
This was never a issue on my 3630 compaq, & is causing me a problem for when I am away from home & my pc, as should I lose all my data there is no way for it to be recovered.
As anyone got a solution?? as HP & tomtom r passing the book on this one??

Try a full restore do not restore TTbtdev.dll and you should be fine.

Thanks for quick reply, that cures the problem, many thanks,, I should have done more of a search on here as it sounds like a common problem, just a thought activesync as the same problems after reinstall (freezes on reset) and it wont be possible to isolate the tttbtdev.dll file??

Common problem this one and been discussed many times on this forum. Either do not copy the TTBTDEV file when doing a back-up, or a much better solution, purchase for a few dollars the upgraded back-up software from Sprite, this copies the files sucessfully and works fine when backed up. You can also back up as an EXE file so that it restores Sprite as well.

I'd second the recommendation to upgrade to the full version of Sprite Backup - unless Sprite have changed their policy, it's only something like US$10 to upgrade to Sprite Backup Premium Edition on an iPAQ that came with iPAQ Backup built in.

Not only does Sprite Backup 3.1.0 not have the restore bug, but it finally supports scheduled encrypted backups. Having your backups as .exe files is a huge help as well - recovering from a hard reset is as simple as:

Following the hard reset, go through the screen alignment, and set the time zone. Do not set the time and date at this point, as it can cause the restore to deadlock when the timer database is restored.
Open File Explorer on the Pocket PC, navigate to your .exe backup on your iPAQ File Store or Storage Card and tap on it.
Enter password (if necessary), tap Restore.
Accept the mandatory soft reset, reset the time, date and device password.
Reconfigure scheduled backups - I recommend a daily scheduled backup telling Sprite Backup to keep the oldest two backup files - this management of old backup files is another added feature in Sprite Backup 3. Operating this way means if a backup fails, you have the previous hopefully OK backup to fall back on.
Delete and re-create your ActiveSync partnership(s) - if possible, synchronise before the hard reset so that you can tell ActiveSync to overwrite the device databases with the data from Outlook when you create the new partnership. This avoids unwanted duplicates. File->Delete Partnership in ActiveSync will allow you to re-use the old device name.

Sprite back-up is at version 3.1.1 now. I personally do not "Delete and re-create your ActiveSync partnership(s)" - I do not know why you need to do this as when you restore the partnership has not changed- I just synchronise again with my PC the changes since the last back-up - there is no need to mess with the date as it also picks this up from the PC also.

One thing I found, to do a restore, you do need to start from a hard reset - otherwise you get the lock-up on reset. but it is better to start from a clear PDA anyway.

Sprite always recommended deleting and recreating the partnerships in the past - it could be that they've moved on to the point where they no longer feel it's necessary, though I always got unsatisfactory results in the past when I didn't delete the partnership.

I hpe the rest of the walk-through is helpful anyway. Sprite Backup is a fantastic piece of software. I found the hang on restore doesn't happen if you delay resetting the clock - it was happening when the event database was being restore and Pocket PC tried to run various events that had elapsed since the machine was backed up.

I'll look into 3.1.1, though right now I've got no route to www.spritesoftware.com - the traceroute goes a couple of hops into rackspace.com, their co-location provider, and stops.
