How long should this take - been running about 2 hours now. Task manager says prog is running - no "not responding" message so I've just left it.
Is this normal? |

Hi ukstripey,
to the forum.
It’s been some time since I fully installed TomTom Navigator (TTNav) onto my 3970, however if memory serves me right, then the program itself shouldn’t take any more than 5 to 10 minutes. The map data can take a lot longer. I think it can take up to 45 minutes if using MS ActiveSync.
The best bet, is to use a card reader/writer especially if you’re using USB 2.0 for transferring your map data onto the card.
Where are you stuck, installing the program or the map data?
Are you using an SD card, or a CF card (via a jacket)?
What brand of card are you using? Scandisk SD cards are a potential problem.
Two hours isn't normal.

It's the actual installation that appears to have locked |

Hi,
In that case, I’d remove the iPAQ from the cradle as nothing’s going to happen.
Are you installing a legitimate copy of TTNav, i.e. one that you have a current activation code for?
Soft reset the iPAQ and then check if it thinks that TTNav and TT GPS driver have been installed. If they are then removed those two in Remove Programs and then soft reset the iPAQ again.
On your PC, ensure that you have nothing running and then place the iPAQ back in the cradle. Once you see that the iPAQ and the PC are synchronised then you can start again.
Reinsert the TTNav installation CD and follow the instructions and install TTNav program onto the iPAQ using the default location.
Then you can install the maps to the storage card.
