I received TomTom Mobile from Amazon yesterday - and can report it DOESN'T work out of the box (apart from copying to a mini-SD card) on a C500!

Basically, it couldn't see the TomTom GPS receiver. Installing the Traffic update fixed it fine though.

Which is exactly what we have said all along!

The problem is that on this and other threads the two issues fo TTM working on a C500, and working with a 3rd party GPS receiver have become confused. I think I read between lines that weren't there and implied that the shipped version of TTM now worked fine on a C500 (apart from the memory card issue)

...so I thought it worth qualifying that statement :D

It should be run on the PC. Once the installer has unpacked its files (The 'APK' part) then it should launch ActiveSync and begin the process of installing the update to the Smartphone.

Storage Card. It won't work if you choose 'Phone'.

TT Mobile 5 will eventually be available as software only but when we don't know, certainly not soon.

I cant help but wonder if they wouldnt suffer the problem with pirate software so much if they actually released the software on its own.

As it stands my only real option is second hand which probably isnt legal either...

Guess I will have to look for different software...

You'd be better off selling your receiver and buying TTMobile5. The TT BT GPS is well worth having being a SiRFStarIII type.

Is TT5 really available software only? I TT Customer Service about the package shown (which seems to be only one at 250 Euros) and they said it comes with the GPS receiver.

Not yet but it is 'supposed' to be available as a software only package at some later and as yet unspecified date.
