I suspect this has been asked before but I have just bought Tomtom with BT the power for the BT reciever only plugs into the TomTom car kit that I have but I wanted to fit it in the rear of my espace as I have a cigarette power supply in the rear of the car. Is it OK if I cut of the phone type connecter and wire it in or do I need to purchase a lead if so where can I get one from. Thanks Neil |

you can use any of the regular iPAQ car chargers to feed the TomTom BT receiver. _________________ Lutz

I believe there is a transformer in the TT cigarette lighter charging cables that steps it from 12v to 5v so be careful or you may end up with a fried TT gps. |

The iPAQ cigarette charger has exactly the same transformer. It delivers 5 V DC. No frying here. _________________ Lutz

Thanks for that I will not cut the lead off ! The only ipaq chargers I can find do not seem to have the required pin connection for the TomTom BT that is a jack connecter. |

Any suggestions on how to hard wire it, my brodit mount does not have an input to power it ? I'd like to have as little wires showing as possible so i've got a hard wired mount. |

If you don't mind a kludge you could always wire a cigarette lighter socket into the wiring somewhere hidden, then plug into that. A bit of insulating tape round the lot should ensure they won't come undone! |
