Is there any way to set the distance you need to travel off route before TT will auto reroute? I've had a couple of instances where a GPS 'glitch' has put me onto the other side of the road; TT has then thought I was going the wrong way and instantly rerouted me.

Any way to change this other than to turn off 'auto' rerouting and assign it to a button?

No, not currently possible with TTN. It's not a biggie, though, and does rarely affect navigation. If you are on a parallel road, moving in the right direction - so what, it will get you to your destination, too.

Unfortunately it was doing it consistently while I was trying it out for the first time with my wife in the car, trying to persuade her that it was useful.

We were driving around a housing estate trying to locate a street we'd not been to before. It just kept rerouting me every 10s or so to the point that it was showing me on a totally different street than I actually was.

Is it not possible to program these applications to realise that it's not possible to travel 100 yards in 0.5s when your last known speed was 20mph?

Admittedly I didn't have an external aerial then (I do now) - I'll switch it back on and see how it goes.

There's an option in TomTom to "Reset GPS to current position" but that's something you don't normally have to do.

Lutz - what 'exactly' does that do? I tried it once and it didn't really seem to do anything.

When you experience the "parallel street syndrome" you can tell the GPS receiver that it's wrong, and point to the place on the map where it should be. This will then attempt to program the GPS receiver with the new position. Not all receivers accept that programming, though.
