Magellan Sportrak vs. Garmin Etrex Legend

What is the better unit? If you were to choose, which one would you buy and why?

I can get the Magellan with the Mapsend CD for under $200 and I can get the Legend by itself for under $200. Just wondering which is more reliable and overall, better.

I'm looking at a GPS for quadding in the Mountains and want it to track and help me back to my truck. I'd like to save tracks. Just a basic unit really. If you know of something better, let me know. I've narrowed it down to these two units. I need something that will take some abuse being on the ATV and all. Not really concerned about battery life as I will be plugging it in to the 12 V adapter on my quad.

Personally, seeing that the environment you are going to take it in isn't going to be ideal, I would go for the Garmin. The only issue with the eTrex range is the size of the screen. If you want a larger screen, you may want to look at the GPSMap76 (or S if you need a proper compass and barometric altimeter).

There's nothing wrong with the SporTrak range really, it's not quite as good when it comes to waterproofing compared to the Garmin's, or as rugged but at the end of the day the choice is really down to you.
