We know this is something that everyone's been dying to get their hands on, and we've been testing the first release for a while now and it's starting to look good. Good enough to release the first version of the database, so here it is...... The Pocket GPS UK Safety Camera Database first release and can be used with both GPSAssist and POI-Warner.
Check out Safety Camera Database. |

Great Dave, thanks to you and the team. Can we assume that this includes the entries from the other POI lists on this and the TT site.
Cheers

Yes it does. I've also been surfing most of the UK county police sites and picked up other potential camera listings which Duncan's looking at adding (he's going to be doing all the database work). We've also added a lot of cameras that we've driven past which is making the database larger as days go on.
If you have any cameras you've picked up yourself, please email them to cameras@pocketgpsworld.com and Duncan will check them out and import and iron out any duplicates. |

No problem Dave, I've started my collection!
How will you manage Cameras on either side of the road but, say, 100 yards apart?
Cheers, Alan |

We're going to remove duplicate cameras that are found to be less than 50m apart, so you will only get one warning, but you should still get this on both sides of the roads. |

Looks great Dave, thanks to all at PocketGPS for providing this database.
One question though.... how do we tell you about cameras that are no longer there, i.e. deletions?
Mark. |

This is just what we needed ;-)
I have a small collection that I don't see in your db as yet and will send once I verify the accuracy for the ones I captured before I had GPSAssist!
How can I get the db to display in Autoroute 2001 by the way?
Thanks again.

Do you plan to add a 'camera count' on the logo or on the page so we can see this thing grow?

Mark, what we're going to do in future versions is to put a description next to each camera, but more importantly a numeric number, so what you'll be able to do is drop back to Map view in TomTom Navigator and tap on the camera, and then email us the camera number.
The thing to bear in mind is the database holds Fixed GATSO's, Mobile GATSO's, Frequent Mobile spots for police radar traps, Tuvelo and SPECS cameras. So you might find some locations we have listed that don't have a speed camera, but are a once or twice a month radar trap site by Police Traffic Cars, so although you might not see a camera there when you pass it, it may be recorded because it's a frequent mobile site. We will air with caution on removing entries from the database. |

Oliver, you would have to export to ASCII and then import it as pushpin data. Not sure about a camera count icon, we'll consider it, but I think it will be too small to actually write numbers that could be understood on the Pocket PC. As the database starts to grow we might start to add a camera count to the website. |

Suggestion: Could it be possible to subscribe to an e mail service which notifies us when the database has been added to?
Fantastic by the way!!!!! _________________ Garry Platt |

Yeah, I'm sure that's something we could setup. |
