Following on from my specific post below.

My expected use is mainly car and I would fore go any "walking" use if the car solution was better. I kind of like the idea of mobility but have no use for a PDA as such. So have not looked at the various PDA + software/hardware combis.

Considered

Garmin iQue (Expensive and proprietry)
Navman PiN
Mitac 168 + TT3

or Car Only

Tom Tom GO
Garmin Street Pilot 3 (over priced(?) and proprietry again!)

I'm easly swayed so please help

Are you expecting to be able to change your setup (or the program) if you don't like it? With the standalone solutions you are kinda stuck, with the Mitac you would have a choice.

Thats a good point. I think the flexibility would be useful. I've been reading about Co Pilot 5 for instance which seems mega expensive but good?

I guess for a non flexible software solution then Tom Tom Go.

Otherwise, for a UK person, it gets confusing with conflicting reports from users on TT3, NavTeq et al. All have their problems with talk of upgrades to fix certain things which then add new ones. Welcome to the world of software.

Assume a Mitac which is the "best" Nav software or are they all pretty much the same?

Given that you don't want or need a PDA then I'd suggest you take a close look at the GO. With a PocketPC solution they do require some attention , they need to be kept charged as if you put it in a drawer for a week it will reset and you'll need to re-install! A dedicated device such as GO, Navman iCN or Streetpilot etc will not suffer if left off.

And you may want to make time to visit our meet at Stratford on the 4th September as you will get the opportunity to handle all these devices and maybe even win a CoPilot 5 BT Bundle.

Garmin Quest?

Useful both in-car and on-foot
