I love this website, but unfortunately for me, it is more dedicated to european GPS information. Hopefully I can find a website with similar information for US residents, but no luck so far..Does anyone know if there is a checkpoint type utility for tomtom usa? I was all excited about installing checkpoint, until I registered on the site, and the US wasn't listed as one of the countries to select

Hi Hag,
I presume that you’re running TTNav2.24 or is it TTNav2.34 nowadays? If so, CheckPOInt 2.0.2 worked OK with TTNav when I was running TTNav2.24.
CheckPOInt 2.0.2 may be downloaded from the download section on this website. I would have thought that it would work with the US version of TTNav.
If you create any new US POIs that others would benefit from, then please send them in so that they can be published here.

Yes, I've got TT 2.24. I can try checkpoint 2.0.2 on it, but I guess my real point was the actual POI's.. i.e. When I went to register on the POIplace, the USA wasn't even listed on there.. So, even if I can get checkpoint installed, do you know of any good US POI databases to d/l from? Thanks,

Hi Hag,
You can have a look at the PocketGPS World POIs, which are free to download. They can be found here. Unfortunately there aren’t many for the USA.
You can always create your own POIs, and if you think that others might benefit from them then please submit them to be added to the published list.
You don’t have to visit a location to turn it into a POI. If you know the Longitude and Latitude of the place (which can be obtained from online maps) then you can use WinOV2 (if you have a Windows PC) to create an .OV2 file. You can also use MS Paint to create a 22 x 22 pixel bitmap. The bitmap and the .OV2 file are all you need for a POI.

Where can I get a copy of TT2 USA (I'm in the UK)? Are there instructions on this site somewhere for running it in parallel with TT3 UK? |
