Hi,

Just wondering why the following doesn't work with MMNav 2004 OS edition ...

I've just spent ages exporting lots of little map segments to cover a walk I'm going to do soon (Offa's Dyke Path) since I'm pretty limited in what I can fit on my X5 (no memory card!). This worked OK, but when I tried to merge them into one big map by selecting them in the Map List and then clicking Merge... it appeared to do something, but actually generated a new map that was just a copy of one of the segments. The same thing happened when I tried the merge from the context menu.

Am I trying to do something that isn't possible?

For some reason to do with accuracy Memory Map only allows one extraction from a map. When you create a small map this counts as one extraction and you then cannot merge it with another.

Unless someone else has come up with a smart workaround the options appear to be:

Create a window on your PC that covers the walk then export, if it is a long walk nearly all North/South or East/West this will work.

If you export lots of adjoining small maps to your PDA, you will see the outline of the other maps when viewing a map. Selecting this region will show that section of map. It may also be that when the GPS enters the other map region it switches automatically. This appeared to happen to me once, which could have been intended or fluke.

Export lots of little maps at the scale you want then add a scale map that covers the whole region and as you select a different scale for the area you are looking at, it will select the correct large scale map.

Get a suitable sized memory card if your device can handle it.
