BC-307 And Laptop

Can anyone help with the following. I have purchased a BC-307 with a PCMCIA Adapator and an External Aerial from EBay.

Pluging the unit into my E740 I have no problems using the built in Aerial or the External Aerial so I am happy with that.

The problem comes when I use it with the PCMCIA Adaptor on the Laptop (DELL Ispiron 1150 / XP Home Fully updated). The first time I plugged it in no problem it installed easily and worked perfectly. I could even shut down the card and eject it and reinsert it and it it would work. But when I shut the laptop down and use it next time it fails to see the card.

I have tried the new driver and various other drivers for the adaptor and tried different COM ports but to no avail.

To get around the problem, I am using a restore point from before the installation and keep going back to that point and reinstalling the card and drivers, each time I which to use the GPS.

Has anyone had the same problem or know how to cure it
