Tomtom Go Classic problem

Hope this is the right place to point out that the installation instructions for the Go Classic (updated March 2009) have been overtaken by Tomtom's "progress".
No longer can we assign sounds to POIs and no longer can we set a warning distance.
I quite like my newly bought Go Classic but I might have my faithful Start 60 repaired if that is possible.
