Software for M515 Navman 500 - smartpath maps useless!

HI everyone - I've been given a Palm M515 and Navman 500.

The software that comes with it is SmartPath City and SmartPath Trips.

They are useless - they don't go down to enough detail and despite loading all the Epping Forest, Chingford and Woodford maps it can't even locate the road where I live! (You see the gps dot way over to the right of the main road in the middle of a blank area - despite it being on the most detailed level of the map)

I've heard there is some good alternative software - can any one reccomend some to me?! Areas I need are Hertfordshire and Essex mainly.
