Firmware is a term that is being used incorrectly by Nick. Without getting into semantics this really means software and is referring to the version 5 navigation software for the GO.
This is just the program that runs on the GO. The maps will be coming soon, but are not available for download, nor will be.
If you currently have a GO then you will be running version 4.x of the software. This update will give you most, but not all, of the version 5.0 features that we reviewed here http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/tomtom-go-5.php _________________ Mike Barrett |

It seems as thought the post code is the same as before, ie, 5 digit instead of 7. |

You need the new version of the maps for the 7 digit post code address search to work correctly.
There will be a new ZIP directory in the root of the memory card and this will contain the data required to select the 7 digit postcode. If that is not available then the Postcode search reverts to the current 5 digit search. _________________ Mike Barrett |

Thanks for that MikeB, it also seems that the A-B function is working, I've tried a couple of routes not using my location and it seemed fine. |

Just for clarity. I forgot to mention that (of course) the new map updates havent been released yet.
This was the subject of my meeting with TomTom on Friday, and there was no definate date set yet. The new map data will be subject to a charge, and will be released on either a SD card or CD. _________________ Mike Barrett |
