Hi,

I have just moved from a Garmin Streetpilot to a Navman 510.

With the Garmin, you get Mapsource which enables you to make routes on your PC and upload them the the Streetpilot.
Is there any software that enables you to do this with the Navman, or do you have to do all of the routing on the device itself?

Thanks for any advice.

Tetch.

Unfortunately planning a route on the PC and transferring it to the iCN isn't possible, although it has been added to the V4 wishlist which you can read and add to here. It is one of the best things about Garmin, I think.

The way I do this for my PPC running SmartST is this. I use Autoroute 2005 to plot waypoints, numbering them 1 to x where x is my destination. (X is also limited to a maximum of 14.) I then save the .axe file and convert it to .csv using Oldie's POIConverter and edit the top line of the .csv file to remove or REM it. I then use the Navamn Desktop to transfer the final .csv file to my PPC using Navman POIEditor. I can then build a 14 waypoint route and as I've numbered the waypoints in order, I generally add them to the Trip Planner in the correct order, too!

Certainly not as easy as building a route on Mapsource then transferring said route and waypoints to your device, but it does work.

This is my main complaint with the 510. I used Garmin and Delorme for years and you could do lots of stuff offline and download, plus upload poi
s and things you created on the device.
That being said I was considering the Garmin Quest when I ran across the 510, I bought the 510 and have not regretted it for one second. I love it and depend on it when I travel, which is a lot.
