|
|
My new Mio 269 arrived this am, and I would really like to use it this weekend.
But it doesn't seem to do very much when I turn it on - the screen comes on, some graphics appear, then a picture of a road leading to a mountain - then it just stops at that screen.
I can't see any reference in the manual to doing anything other than charging it up and turning on in order to get to the configuaration screens. Is there something else I should be doing or do you think its just broken?

Hmm, that's not good. It sounds like it's not booting. Perhaps seeing that you have the 269 that the hard drive isn't powering up or reading.
Best thing to do is to hit the HW switch on the rear, turn it off, then turn it on and put the power cable in and power on.
It should bring up the screen and start with a loading bar which means it's installing software from the hard disk. If you're not getting that far then I suspect you have a DOA unit and you may need to send it back for replacement. |

Thanks very much for the suggestion- I've tried this and its still not doing anything - I get 2 bars on the progress indicator then it beeps and locks up at the picture of the mountain. I'm assuming it shouldn't take more than 20 minutes to get past this stage, whihc is how long I've left it.
I've also now tried it outside as well as outside - no joy.
If I ever get one working I'll send you some comments from a GPS novice.
I'll be driving to Germany in 3 weeks and I'm intrigued as to what will happen when I drive over country boundaries.
Thanks again |

Definitely not, the whole install of program from hard drive to main memory shouldn't take more than 2-3 minutes, so there's definitely a fault here. I'd contact the retailer you purchased it from and poss get an RMA number to send it back if they still think it's faulty. |
