Dear All

Grateful for any advise on this subject please.
I have been running tomtom3 on my ipaq3970 with no problems until today.
Whenever I start tomtom I get the following message.

Fatal Application Error

Application tomtom Navigator.exe has performed and illegal operation and will be shut down.

Program Tomtom
Navigator.exe
Exception 0xc0000005
Address 0110b18

I am totally stumped , I have not changed anything and was using it fine last night.. It can't be something to do with been the 1st of a New Year can it ?

Any help much appreciated, as I do not know where to start at the moment.

Thank you & the best for the New Year
Andrew

There is a "TomTom Navigator Settings" folder in your "My Documents" folder.

Do a back up of these files, then delete great_britain.pnaNavigatorSettings.cfg and Navigator GlobalSettings.cfg

Soft reset then start Tomtom again.

Tomtom should recreate the files when you next start and should get you going again.

Help!!

I'm also getting this error, but at a different address. I tried your fix, but to no avail. Here's the text:

Exception: 0xc0000005
Address: 00a8aaac

Any ideas?

I had a similar problem recently cannot remember the full error message. After a lot of trial and error I found it only occured using maps to which I had added the Tesco and Asda POI files. Removing them solved the problem but I dont know why. Was it a lack of memory caused by the new POI's. Perhapse someone can explain

I saw a thread where people had experienced problems with the french campsite POI files so I deleted them. It could be coincidence but it seemed to sort itself out after that.

Thanks for the tip though - if I get another problem I'll delete the Tesco file and see what happens.

A lot of the fatal exeption errors I have had have been down to corrupt bitmaps for POI. Deleting the POI has correted the problem.
