Simply question, hopefully a simple answer.

I have read several other forum links that basically say stay clear of Sandisk SD cards. Why?

I currently have an issue with my Haicom 303E and Destinator software where I get the message 'GPS not found'.

Are these related?

I am using a Sandisk with my Ipag and NavMan Sleeve and all is okay. SD is only a 250MB though.

Sandisk SD cards seem to be quite slow compared to some other makes. This can cause problems for some software... TomTom being one such,

I quite happily use a cheap Sandisk 1Gb SD card with CoPilot and have also used it with SmartST.

I think that the SD card is unlikely to be the cause of your 'GPS not found' message, but I have no idea what is likely to be causing it.

Thanks for the reply Kam,

I opted for the Ultra card just for the speed reason, so realy can't believe what people say about Sandisk.

My Hubert Crappard 2210 wouldn't run Tomtom3 with an SD card, frequently would lock up - usually within 2 or 3 minutes, changed to a CF card and the diference was incredible.

Ollie,

I've had no lockup issues with the SD card and my HP 2410. Maybe it's lucky that I'm not running TT.

What SD card where you using?

I was using a 128mb RIDATA, and changed it for a 256mb KINGMAX (CF card), the SD card was supplied with the unit when new along with the BT receiver and tomtom3 software.

It seams that the 2210 is very tempermental with any kind of SD card where GPS is concerned.

With much help from this forum all is well now, though my PDA is used solely for tomtom3.

There have been terrible performance and compatibility issues with Sandisk SD cards in the past.

It seems that the latest generation aren't so bad; I was recently sent a 1GB Sandisk SD card (the ordinary sort, not the Ultra II) for testing, and I haven't managed to break it yet. However, I haven't yet had the time to test it thoroughly or benchmark it against my usual Lexar 32x cards.

Based on the historic problems with Sandisk, by choice I'd go for another brand if I was paying.

The iPAQ h2210 and iPAQ hx2410 are of different hardware generations and different OS versions.
