|
|
Hi, a very useful forum!
My question is:
Is it possible for TomTom Navigator 3 to give an audible sign(not speed cameras) if you go over the speed limit for that type of road?
When using the speed camera software does your whole system slow down?
Thanks!!! :D |

Not with the basic software. You can do that with some of the TomTom addons. See the addon page.

Some people have people have reported problems with POI's. I couldn't make the speed camera software work as it crashed my PDA, but the speed cameras work as basic POI's without problems. |

If you add software such as checkpoint or POI warner, together with the pocketgpsworld.com safety camera database, you shouldn't need Road Angel, but I never used this product so don't know else it does. |

Hi,
First post here. Pretty new to this as well.
I have installed the SC POI and Checpoint 3.02 (I think) and it works just great. At the moment I have the single dbase for the cameras and you can set the speed for the overlay.
Problem is it sets the same speed for every speed camera. So I turned that off but it works if you are travelling over the set speed limit when the POI is detected.
Tried to download the separate overlays for different speed setting POI's i.e. 40mph gatsos, 30mph gatsos etc but you have to subscribe to recieve them.
Anyone else know where they can be obtained? |

Yes, the download from this site has them! They're inside a subfoler, but they're definitely there. |

Thank you for your help, but I still cannot find them. I have downloaded the pocketgps dbase and the uk speed cam dbase. They don't appear to be in there. I cannot however download the MRLabs one.
If you do find it, pls reply or PM me.
Cheers |

Make sure that the zipped database you download is v.3.014, inside that is a folder called "speed zoned" and in that are the gatso & mobile folders separated into speeds. Before downloading clean out your temp internet files/cashe or like I did last month you may keep getting a old version see here http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=14841 |

Why doesn't anybody ever recommend GPSAssist as well as Checkpoint and POIWarner.
I use it and think it is great and has a lot more uses apart from POI Warnings!
By the way I do not work for the makers ok GPSAssist. :D |

Re the above POI's etc. Checked and tested. Work fine.
re Quote: | Why doesn't anybody ever recommend GPSAssist as well as Checkpoint and POIWarner. | I tried to install GPS Assist and kept receing error messages re installation. it appeared as though my download was not complete. So i did the next best thing and installed Checkpoint!
When I get my 1GB SD card, I'll have more room 'to play!' |

1. Because you have to register it.
2. CheckPOInt 2.0.2 is free.
3. CheckPOInt 2.0.2 is known to work on most setups and does what most users need. _________________ Graham.
