I am very new to GPS. I did not look at GPS as it was costly stuff for me so far. Now I have PocketPC and so can invest few more to get GPS working for me.

I have seen so far tomtom3 in action. But did not try myself. From readings on forum I understood tomtom is a good GPS software with one limitation. Rather limitation for me because I live in Geneva which is on border with France. Tomtom users are not very happy to cross border with tomtom as they have to swtch maps every time they corss border.

I listened from Prymenav usage that this tools can let user choose area to be downloaded to PocketPC.

- Can that handle cross border routes so that I will get continuous instructions on route across border with no need to change configuration.
- I have 1 GB SD card mainly purchased to keep maps. Can I keep all neighboring countries maps already copied ? on may be entire Eurpe maps !!!
- I also read there are bugs in finding route and newer map entries. How true is that with V2.
- Does V2 take advantage of Xtrac mode effectively?
- How does Fortuna Clip-on works with Prymenav ?
-Can same Fortuna clip-on be used with Laptop as GPS receiver?

I need inputs so that I can take wise and economic decision to purchase right product.

Pryme Nav can handle cross border routes as you can load the software by region so you can plan a route from say Dover through France to Italy providing you have sufficient memory on your SD card. Pryme Nav is very memory hungry. France for example takes about 450 MB. If you can get Pryme Nav to work it is fine. The maps seem up to date. However, my experience in loading Pryme Nav means that I would not touch it again with a bargepole.

The problem I had was that some countries loaded and others did not. The seller replaced the CD Roms but the same problem occurred. I kept getting error messages during data transfer, you are advised to change CD Roms when the programme is running and then told to contact tech support. Pryme Nav simply do not bother to respond to enquiries.

All a complete and utter waste of time. Fortuneately I was able to get a refund.

FWIW, PrymeNav is available in many different guises, it is also known as Deluo Routis, Intellinav and Socket MyNavigator to name a few. We have reviews of the Deluo US and Socket UK versions.

Navman's SmartST can route across borders so if this is a requirement perhaps a Navman product could be worth consideration?
