Yes, the XDAIIs uses the Widcomm BT Stack which is a lot better to start with. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Bit the bullet and traded in XDA2 for XDA2s. Extra features, buttons and capabilities and nicer m/c etc (bit of self justification here).
Also the BT handsfree profile is indeed supported by the Broadcom (nee Widcomm) stack.
Problem is I still can't get the audio from the GPS/CoPilot through the car speakers even though all the fancy icons on the XDA suggest it should be happening. Car phone and GPS working OK as before.
Perhaps I just haven't pushed the right combination of buttons yet. Don’t quite know what to do now although the combined resources (1 man) of O2 are working on it as I speak.

What you need to try first is to get some streaming music transmitting (for example a looping Windows Media Player). If that works then your BT "headset" may suffer from the sleep syndrome cause by the pauses between the voice announcements. I solved that by playing the music barely audible in the background, keeping the connection alive. _________________ Lutz

Thanks for this but no it doesn't transmit anything from the media player.
Meanwhile the deep thinkers from O2 came back with the message that it won't work on the IIs. But guess what, it'll be OK on the IIi due out in the UK 'sometime in March'.
So the plan is you keep spending money with O2 until they finally release a bit of kit that has the right BT implementation aboard.
If they've got an IIi in test at present why can't O2 just put the latest/most comprehensive BT set on the latest machine they are selling now i.e. the IIs or at least publish an immediate S/W upgrade for those of us who who were led to believe we had bought the latest version?
The above designations refer to UK machines. Confusingly the same XDA version may be called something different in other countries so its difficult to compare.
