Got my Navman icn 510 yesterday and starting playing around with it.
I loaded all my state maps on my sd256 meg card but somehow I didn`t load the base maps.
I believe they are on disc 1 but when I loaded the software I thought that it said that the basemaps were not available.
Now when I hit destination on the main screen it says no map data available so I can`t select any destination.
When I go to settings and then maps my maps on the memory card are there but when I select Internal memory it says no maps loaded.
Do I need to go back to disc 1 and load the base maps?
Is this why I can`t map any destination?
Any help would be appreciated!! |

I take it you're in the US. If you could update your profile, it would be helpful. As to the Basemap, it will be on one of the discs, probably the first Data disc. You load it from the Navman/iCN Desktop under Map > Basemap.
As to your other maps, when you go into Setup > Map on your device, do any maps show up there? If so, have you selected any by tapping the checkbox to the left to put a cross in it? _________________ Tim |

Basemaps are not required unless you need to select a route out of your state. If you loaded your State maps correctly they will be loaded automatically when your iCN resets after disconnecting from your PC.
You can verify what maps are loaded tapping in your iCN main Menu Settings, then Maps and then memory card. Then a list of the installed maps will appear. The Active ones should have a check mark as Tim indicated in his previous post.
Finally be sure to load Service Pack 1 into your iCN. It is required to correct several bugs in the system, and probably will help to correct your actual problem.
You can download Sp1 here:
http://www.navmansupport.com/smartst_pro/SmartST_Pro/NavmanUpdates.html.
Please note that the iCN does not load maps into the internal memory. All map data is loaded into the SD Card |

What exactly are base maps? I am showing the same thing as OP, and would appreciate the term "base maps" being defined.
Thank You |

On one of your map CDs, assuming you got more than one, will be a US basemap. It will be a map of the main interstate routes and possibly other main roads. What it means is that if you wanted to plot a route from Wichita to, say, Springfield Illinois, you would only need the maps of Kansas and Ilinois. You would be guided through Missouri using the basemap, via major roads. _________________ Tim |

Am I totally missing something obvious here? I see no way to do anything other than look at the F: drive. My ICN 510 shows the basemaps NOT being loaded, and I just am not seeing any other options on this screen.

Sorry for the duplicate image posts. I am still new to this forum and unsure how everything works just yet, not unlike my ICN 510

Did you have a Navman map CD in your PC's CD ROM drive when you took that screenshot? How many CDs did you get? _________________ Tim |

You need CD 1 (of 3) for the US basemap. |

A quick question regarding V3 in the US. Does it always come with full US coverage or is it also sold on a regional basis like the European offering? _________________ Tim |

ICN came with 4 cd's total. 1-3 are maps of North America. The other is the ICN 500 Series Application Starter. When i did the screen shot I had the application disk in my drive. When I put in disk two or three the little circle icon turns into a questions mark. When I have disk 1 the icon turns into a green cd looking icon. With disk 1, I still get no options (as seen in screen shot below) to do anything? I know it something really simple I am missing here. I greatly appreciate you fine folks help. Me being a newby and all :D

Your screenshot clearly shows that you can "Add" the basemap to the SD-CF card in your device. I assume F:\ is a card reader? If so, stick the card in there, as transfer will be quicker. _________________ Tim |
