You could try the cable on a modem (if you have one in the junk drawer!)

If it has a serial port, it should work.

Works really well with the modem, many thanks. Sooo, thats means that yes the MIO has a serial port built in.

BTW, tried with activesynce but as you state it does not work.

thanks for the quick delivery on the wire, cheers.

It is a serial interface for the PDA so that it can use other serial devices.
It is not a serial cable so it cannot be used for hotsync.

To illustrate the difference simply, a serial interface (port) is a host, just like the one on the PC, with a DB9 male connector.
A serial cable, for any device, PDA, GPS or modem, is a client, with a DB9 female connector.

To connect 2 devices, one must be host and the other client, hence a male and a female connector for each.

Presumably a standard RS232 crossover cable would sort this???

On a slightly different note... has any body tried connecting the MIO to a non-PC device using the USB port?
Does it support either full USB hosting, or the On-The-Go supplement?
Cables - standard USB are available for both, would a M to M block connect them?

The reason - I'm trying to connect to a Treo600, for GPRS data (no Bluetooth or WiFi :x ). I can use this http://www.junefabrics.com/palmnet/ to expose the treo's GPRS modem, but need to know I can drive it from the MIO (preferably with out blowing up either device).

Am waiting confirmation of what is required, software wise, on the host PC (or PPC in this case).

All answers are negative I am afraid.
The only way you can use Mio with Treo is IR (not sure on top of my head whether Treo has IR but it should have).
