Posted: Tue Nov 30, 2004 5:29 pm Post subject: Holiday travel with both European & UK maps? |
|
|
I asked this before, but maybe didn't explain it that well...
Does anyone know how to change between the various Navigon supplied maps? For example, driving in the UK with the Great Britain map, then crossing to Belgium, and changing to the Belgium map?
Hopefully someone has been on holiday in Europe and worked it out ...
I have exported both UK & Belgium maps on an SD card in a \Maps directory.
\SD Card\Maps\Great Britain and Ireland
\SD Card\Maps\Belgium
Firing up MN4, in the "Country - Please Select" box I get a choice of;
France
Great Britain
Ireland
Norway
Netherlands
Tapping ANY of them always brings up only the Great Britain and Ireland map data.
Belgium does not even appear on this list.
The only way I can make the Belgium map appear is by editing the "NavLib.ini" file in the main Navigon directory...
Under [Properties] changing the line as follows;
Last used database directory=\SD Card\Maps\Great Britain and Ireland
makes the GB Ireland map appear.
or
Last used database directory=\SD Card\Maps\Belgium
makes the Belgium map appear.
Just as an extra note, when the line is changed to Belgium, only "Belgium" is offered in the "Please Select - Country" box.
I'm pretty sure editing the NavLib.ini file is not the correct method, but the Navigon manual, (and their tech support) are about as useful as a solar powered flashlight.
I don't want to do a full re-install unless I really have to - any ideas?
Other than that, this is great software - the TMC is first class. _________________ Regards,

If my memory is correct you should be looking for a "Map" menu option in Navigon, this allows you to switch between the two map you have stored on the memory card. |

How is it possible to spend so much time seaching for an answer, and all the time there is a big button marked "Select Map" which allows the choice of any loaded maps .....
Thanks for pointing out the blatantly obvious in a nice way!
I'll dial in the fastest route to the optician right away .... _________________ Regards,

Just as a thought, l had this problem and sorted it out with a sd card l bought from the chop suey country for £44, l purchased a sd 1GB card,used a card reader, which i found to be easier than Sync and download all the Europe mads on it. Then went on holiday all around europe,including up Swiss Alps, it even worked in the Gottard tunnel.had to change countries as soon as hit the frontiers.Fanatstic bit of kit. Keep supplied sd just for UK |
