Hi,

Have the above mounted, but dont seem to be getting a signal from the sats. Tomtom wired reciever is flashing green but doesnt seem to be communicating with the IR of my PDA. Is Genric IRDA port ok for it? Or is there some update i need?

Many thanks,

James

yes, that should work. Have you tried to use the IR port for ActiveSync with your laptop? Or to send files to another PDA or phone?

Me too .. same prob with ipaq 1930/silver shield mount/tomtom gps/tomtom navigator 3.

It simply doesnt communicate. I have power to the unit, a green flashing light after warm up on the gps mouse, and know that the ir port on my ipaq works ( I have disabled 'recieve all incoming beams' )

I presume the settings in tomtom are for the tomtom gps unit on ir2410, although have tried almost every combination of settings/ports, including all the sirf/nmea protocols.

Help anyone ? or is the silver shield mount a load of pants ?

It should be NMEA 115200 on COM2 - tried that?

Tried it, it still doesn't work.

I installed a diagnostic prog called 'winfast navigator', which shows a signal is being sent and received by the ipaq, but it still doesn't seem to interpret the data. (Also winfast navigator only has settings up to 57000 baud, so I tried it on 4800, and on 'auto-detect'). Still no joy. Is there a problem with the IR port as mine says 'S2410 IRDA2410' not 'S240 IRDA S240', as someone else has mentioned in another forum?

Help !

Thats it I give up. It's being sent back to Santa's workshop for the elves to figure it out. I'm buying a haicom instead...hopefully more luck with that.

Or maybe I have 3000 volts of static electricity flowing out of my fingers. Everything I touch lately seems to stop working these days....

Thanks for your help anyway !

Update: I just got a Haicom reciever/mount from ebay. Plugged it straight in, it worked within 10 seconds ! Also the mount looks and feels much better quality than that horrible plasticky silvery thing.

Don't make the same mistake as me !

Thats the route I am going to take as soon as I get my refund. When I look at the claims made for the Silver shield on ebay now, it doesnt say it can be used on the 1910! Wish they had told me 3 weeks ago, I would have more hair now! Embarassed
