It sounds like you are trying to re-run the installer rather than the program itself?

Microsoft ClickOnce insists that you manually uninstall any existing version first.

If it isn't in add/remove programs then search for /apps/ under your username and manually delete the whole folder. Do a C:/ search for 'converter.exe' to track it down.

It's already covered, with the acthal folder names here somewhere ......

Does the converter show in your 'Add/remove Programs'?
You cannot re-install it without un-installing first, otherwise you get the error message that you have.
So either it is already installed or if you are trying to run the setup.exe a second time, that's what's wrong. You are not trying to run the program, but trying to reinstall it.
Once it has/is installed, you should have a shortcut on your desktop with a black camera icon. That's the one you need to run.

It would seem it installed but I thought it hadn't because of no black icon on my desktop.
Checked add/remove progs and it was listed, removed it and reinstalled now it is working fine.

Thanks for your help

The GPI file is copyright to PGPSW even though it's a byproduct of the original database file. Nobody is allowed to distribute any part of the database in any format.

As a further disincentive each download is watermarked to each member so distribution origin can be detected.

Using my Converter is fairly easy and has been tweaked over the years based on feedback to make it as user friendly as possible.

Once you download the package read one of the help files.

But you still need to convert the gpx it creates to gpi using POILoader K.

@MIKECURTIS. What device do you have Mike?
I'm 77 and can handle it OK.

I’m about to install the latest version. Can you please refresh my memory about the following:
Do I need to delete the existing C:\Users\[username]\appdata\local\Apps\2.0\ file before I install new version?
Assume I can leave everything as is in the PGPSW folder?
Many thanks

No. Just uninstall the converter via "Programs and features" or whatever Microsoft call it on your flavour of Windows.

On Win7 it's 'uninstall a program'.

On W10 it depends on whether you go into Control Panel or PC Settings.
'Apps' in PC Settings
'Programs and Features' in Control Panel.

Why didn't MS standardise rather than keeping on chopping and changing names.

Struggling to get this installed on my Win 10 laptop. I have run the setup programme and set my preferred folder. If I download the database and unzip, I am told the image and voice files are missing, which is fine as I usually unzip to a folder and change names before moving to my POI folder. The programme is telling me they files have been unzipped, but they are not being put in my specified working folder. If I then try to open POI loader using the button provided, I get an "unhandled exception has occurred in your application" error.

I can't keep jumping between pc's to upload cameras, any ideas please?
