I have just replaced my ipaq 5450 with a new 6365. I previosly used the 5450 with Tom tom 3 and a garmin emap. The prevoius GPS settings in tom tom were serial port on com1. I cannot get the 6365 to talk to the GPS using any of the available options. Does anyone have any ideas? |

As far as I am aware the 63xx do not have a serial port any more. You will have to use a adapter cable, or a BT GPS _________________ Lutz

You would appear to be correct. Unfortunately I'm having no luck with TT3 and a fortuna clip-on receiver. The IPAQ 6365 will pair and see the reciever nut TT3 will not connect. TomTom say they do not support the 63xx yet. Bit annoying as Memory Map worked straight away |

TomTom not supporting the 63xx ? That's ridiculous. TTN works fine on my 6315, wiith all kinds of BT receivers. _________________ Lutz

The response from TomTom:
"This model is NOT yet in our compatibility list. Our test team is looking at this model but we can not give false hopes to our customers. We do not know if this model will pass our testing requirements. If this model does pass testing then it will be listed on our website as compatible but at this time it is not compatible.
We hope to have answered your question to your satisfaction.
With best regards,
The TomTom Customer Support Team"
I have seen your posts regarding BT com ports. ON My BT serial port settiings I have inbound on COM4, and outbound on COM7. However in TomTom GPS setup I only see Bluetooth Serial Port COM4. |

Yes,
I've successfully used the 6365, fortuna clip-on and Memory map. My TT3 problem seems to be similar to others in that I can only see "Bluetooth Serial Port COM4" in GPS Status. |

very interesting indeed. I can only confirm again that my TT GPS control applet shows both COM 4 and COM 7. I am using version 2.06 of the TT GPS _________________ Lutz

I'm using 3.03
I saw in an earlier post that you recommended a TT2 user change the GPS driver. Would that work with TT3 or are they incompatible? |

the GPS driver is independent from the Navigator program. You can exchange your GPS driver as well - and you can run TTN 3.03 with TTGPS 2.07 or lower. _________________ Lutz

Lutz,
Following another thread, I did a hard reset, installed TT GPS 2.07 and managed to see COM7 and got a GPS fix. I then installed TT 3 but had no option but to install everything so my GPS driver is now at v3 and doesn't work
Is there a way to deselect the GPS driver when installing TT3? |

Hi Thrubwell,
You are forced into installing the TT GPS driver, when you install TTNav. However you should be able to remove the GPS Driver after the install. Ensure that all programs have been stopped:
Start | Settings | System | Remove Programs
Look for TomTom ~ GPS and remove it. Do a soft reset. You may need to repeat the whole removal process including a second soft reset to ensure that it has been fully removed.
Install TT GPS 2.07 and you should have a positive result.

There's another option as well. Do the hard reset, then DO NOT use the CD but install the 3.03 update from the TomTom web site and the 2.07 GPS from our downloads page. The only thing missing will be the voice - that you can then load from the CD. _________________ Lutz

Used the CD, then uninstalled the GPS driver, installed 2.07 and it works!
I am now one totally happy bunny! thanks very much
Next problem. Now that my trusty old emap is no longer of any use, what would you reccomend as a bluetooth receiver? I've been borrowing a friends fortuna clip-on to test and my car has a heat reflective windscreen the extra sensitivity sounds useful. I've also borrowed an Emtac, any ideas? |

Depends if you want to hard wire or make it more portable. Don't forget, the BT receiver can sit anywhere, also in the back of the car or in the sunroof. _________________ Lutz
