One welcome return that I heard this morning is the recalculating warning when you go off route, wasn't expecting that!

Did you ask them to confirm that they have changed their policy? When I've spoken with Garmin in the past they never wanted to freely admit that you can load in third party cameras as they always used to 'push' their own Cyclops database / subscriptions.

Did the techie seem knowledgeable as they can be very 'hit and miss' and I've told them on a number of occasions that their nuvi range can do things they didn't know were possible - even including talking them through their own diagnostic menus!

I'm with you, I think that's what has happened here so will be good to hear the results of your test. As for diagnostic menus, one thing I discovered in there is that you can change the time of the Fatigue Warning, although personally I've switched that off.

Exactly, I had an issue once and the Garmin rep could not understand why I couldn't see the map files even though I had hidden and system files showing?

I now know that it was because of MTP v Mass Storage mode. I can't understand why they don't train them properly.

Their stock answer to everything is to dish out RTB notices.

POILoader can make TourGuides. To apply to every POI in the file, it's triggered by including the phrase "TourGuide" in the filename. (I reckon POILoader was probably written by a work-experience student Rolling Eyes)

But TourGuides are a poor substitute for the along-road, speed-related alerts we currently have. Crying or Very sad

(and you'd have to enable the option for them to 'auto-play' on the Satnav - assuming they've not taken that away too...)

Returned Driveluxe 51 to shop for refund. Regretfully as it would have been ideal for my requirements.

The dealer is pushing me towards the Driveluxe 50 because of a really good price but more importantly, according to them, it will not have the same problems of unsupported third party files.

If anyone with a 50 can confirm their use of pocketgpsworld camera database with no problems I would be very grateful to hear from them.

I can definitely confirm that. Got a DriveSmart 50lmt-d at weekend from Halfords for £90, and the PGPSW cameras work perfectly.

Good to hear but I am worried slightly because it is the Driveluxe 50 and not the Drivesmart I am interested in.

The only real difference from the 51 is no WiFi, well I can live without that.

They're the same series, it'll be fine.

did mention further back on this that the cameras work on the driveluxe 50 (2016 model) and with the last update..

@sussamb, i had that warning once and never had it again

i have noticed is that the tripdata or trafffic is not always displayed and that even though i come of the same junction every day, it wants to send me to the next junction and queue in traffic... i thought the mytrends was supposed to recognise your route and plot course based on it

It will but there are certain conditions that must be met

So your work is set as a favourite? And myTrends is enabled in the menu?

100% confirm the DriveLuxe 50 has PGPSW speed camera database using formerly Ash10's program and then Kremmen's program to convert them.

POIloader works fine too and I have 99,000 (or so) POIs and cameras loaded on a DriveLuxe 50 running the latest firmware 5.20.

Sealion - running both units last week I would save £100 and go with the DriveLuxe 50 as you won't be disappointed. Apart from the Wi-Fi and a few sub-menu tweaks the units behave almost exactly the same (I didn't attempt to load POIs as I had them on my original unit and didn't want double the alerts).
