Anybody know how to implement PocketGPSworld cameras on the Go 500? I can't find any way of getting it to work like my old TomTom XL |

If your Go 500 is a recent TomTom, there's an easy answer. Yo can't. TT seem to have abandoned third party POI alerts, just allow you to import them as POIs (on some devices). About as much use as a chocolate teapot. |

I'm very confused now. The Pocket GPS World site says the Tom Tom GO 500 is compatible with the database so my partner bought me a new GO 500 for Christmas. As I couldn't find any way to put the database on the new Tom Tom I checked the forum and found this thread. If the database isn't compatible with the latest Tom Tom Go 500 can someone let me know which of the latest Tom Toms the database is compatible with. |

Unfortunately TT have started to reuse model numbers. The old GO500 did work but all the latest units, last few years, do not work with POi's that require an advance warning like cameras.
Give them a McDonalds database where all you need is directions and they are fine from what I can tell. _________________ Satnav:

i guess they wanted to cash in and make you subscribe.
Its a shame that my lifetime subscription might now be useless to me because of Tomtom. Not PocketGPS fault of course.
Maybe they will relent in the future.
Is there a definitive list anywhere of which devices (current ones) allow warnings for POI's so we know which to buy when updating our tomtom's? |

You can't buy a "current one" which does the camera warnings, it's that simple. There are still some older ones available if you hunt for them, but there's always a risk you buy something dodgy secondhand.
The best solution is to transfer yourself to a smartphone - Android or iPhone and get the (free download) CamerAlert and use your lifetime membership to get the updates on that. It's also a far better implementation of the database. _________________ Dennis

Hi Shaun,
My last/latest TomTom PND is a 950 LIVE. I used to upgrade my TomTom PNDs on a regular (year to 18 months) basis but I stopped with the 950 in about 2009, i.e. 7 years ago.
The reason is that instead of adding new features, TomTom started to actually take useful features away and the x50 is the last of the best - however I think that there are a few more features on the previous x40 range.
Today I use my 950 for special occasions (i.e. POI capturing) all other times I use the TomTom app on my iPhone.
I can load the PGPSW camera database onto my iPhone TomTom app so that the camera sites appear on the map and I run CamerAlert in the background to provide the alerts.
Edit: Beaten by Dennis - again.
