SapMap have just tweeted to say that map prices have been slashed as a result of the OS reducing their royalty fees. It'll be interesting to see how much the new mapping costs once it's on sale.

On sale now.

Peak District 1:25,000 for £22. I paid £70 for it 2 years ago.

Whole GB 1:50,000 £64.

Lake District was £105...now £26....a £79 saving, and all down to O.S. ? Sounds a bit odd to me........financial problems maybe ?

No...not financial problems.

MemoryMap have also just slashed their mapping prices, and they also have attributed it to cuts in Ordnance Survey charges - and dramatically so for 1:25k maps.

Dales.

I'm just surprised, that in my example above, OS were demanding £79 per copy of the Lakes....perhaps somebody here from OS would care to enlighten me ?

Sorry I wasn't very clear. When I said "new mapping" I meant the new high definition maps which will accompany the SatMap Active 12 when it goes on sale. I think Memory Map already do HD maps. Here's a link to an Outdoors Magic article.

And I thought I got lucky buying all GB for £100 during summer

You can get the GB Platinum Full for £230, now I might invest in that next year

I see Satmap say £230 is an introductory price. What does this mean as they claim full price of £2,100. Was this the price before OS reduced their royalties?

It will be interesting to see how they, Satmap, announce the upcoming A12....special loyalty deals for HD maps, special deals to trade in or upgrade exisiting maps, and how will they deal with custom maps ? I've spent a ton of money with them, particularly all my custom maps.
Although £230 is a very attractive price, I am loathe to shell out yet more money, if in the next breath, HD is announced with equally attractive pricing.
I guess it's a question of hanging in there a bit longer, but looking at Anquet and Memory Map pricing this should help to ensure that Satmap will have to remain competative....I hope.

I missed "introductory" - hope it doesn't go up too much, but really don't want to spend too much at the moment.

I am not sure that HD is much more than a gimmick. How often have you wanted higher resolution when actually in the field?
I can't remember an instance personally.
Bluetooth as also an unnecessary addition.
I am a huge SatMap fan, but can't see any justification in trading up.
Now - if they improve the battery connector, and the USB and SD slot covers - that is a different matter.

As expected EBay is being flooded with people trying to offload their map cards!

Some asking reasonable prices but a few seemingly willing to 'stitch up' unsuspecting buyers by asking more than the 'new' price. I suppose it's a case of 'buyer beware' but I wouldn't want to knowingly do that to someone.

Mind you, must be gutting for those who have invested recently in the large region premium maps.

"These prices may change so grab a bargain now!

These interim prices will be available until the end of the month while we finalise everything, we just wanted you to be able to benefit from the lower prices immediately."

There's a chance that some people are panicking and flogging their cards too cheap eg someone sold the Lake District 1:25k for £22 on eBay yesterday.
Last week that would have achieved around £60.

At the other end of the scale, Some poor sod is trying to sell England & Wales 1:25k for £800 !!!!
