Europe 2013.40 released

Garmin servers were active earlier and a few hours later CNEU 2013.40 finally showed up. Delay due to a slightly reworked format and compatibility issues with new directional instructions for the 2013 nuvi models. Downloaded by the "traditional" method onto PC and Nuvi so would be interested to know if Garmin Express updates map ok.

Thanks for the heads-up - Downloaded successfully using MapUpdater as Sussamb had advised of problems with Express in other post on this update.

If anyone is interested these are the old and new file sizes as the European maps have grown by over 250mb. 2013.30 file sizes stated first and 2013.40 stated second. All figures relate to Nuvi 3490.

Garmin have significantly increased the number of POIs in this release.

Express failed to download a couple of times but after that it was plain sailing. The download has gone way up in size, I think it said 5.8Gb which it did quite quickly but then the install was very slow.

Overall I think it is an improvement but as I have said previously Google Maps don't have all this faff and they are totally free apart from ongoing data charges

Hi
Got the new map update message on my Nuvi 1690.
Went to "My Dashboard" which showed new map update waiting.
Downloaded GarminExpress to PC running W7-64 Home Prem.
Clicked to Run.
Clicked "Yes" on the "Do you want to allow.... " windows screen.
Got 2 secs of the revolving wait icon.
Then, nothing more - only dashboard screen.
Looks like the program crashed out and stopped running.
Tried a number of times, also run as admin - no change.
Downloaded GarminExpress seperately from Garmin website. No change.
Troubleshooter says program not compatible.

Tried MapInstall which has always worked.
But Mapinstall shows the previous map version and says my unit is up to date.

Any ideas please?

MapInstall only installs maps already on your PC to your GPS. Garmin Express is very buggy, numerous forums outlining problems with it, the answer is to use Garmin MapUpdater available here:

With my Lifetime update for my nuvi 765T I was looking for the 2013.40 update in my account but it showed only the 2013.30 and has no indication on the page about the update to 2013.40.

Does anybody know if it has been withdrawn?

Garmin appear to have withdrawn it from posts on other forums, reissue due by 1 May according to Garmin website.

Further to my post of 7th March.
Thanks for your answer, I finally managed to download the 2013.40 maps a on 10th of March, using the Garmin Lifetime Updater.
Garmin Express never worked.
Now 2013.40 has been withdrawn, wonder if there is going to be an update?

When I go to "My Maps" on the Garmin website it tells me that I only have 2013.30 - even though the Info on the GPS says 2013.40.

Think it will depend on how quickly the problem is solved. 2014.10 would be due in May anyway, so that could be next, or they could release an update to 2013.40, which if the last time they had to do this is a guide it will be 2013.42

My myGarmin is still allowing me to download 2013.40, but I wouldn't worry ... if your GPS is showing 2013.40 that will be what you've got.

I got an e-mail from Garmin about an hour ago advising that there is a problem with 2013.40. Sad

It seems that certain road segments, e.g. roundabouts, in the Netherlands have the direction of travel incorrectly entered. (I presume they mean that RHD rather than LHD driving is suggested Confused

).

A "corrected" version is promised for late April.

Thanks for the heads-up cwog - Downloaded 2013/41 successfully using Express this time, instead of the usual MapUpdater - and as it seemed to have loaded properly I presume that have eliminated the problems previously encountered by people with Express. Can anybody else advise on that for me please?

It took just over 2 hours in total for my Western Europe download.

Express has always worked for me, but many have had problems, at least initially. Now whether they were really Express problems or problems in the users PC is debateable, often people scream at Garmin when actually it's a Windows or other issue.

If it's worked for you then you'll be one of many I'm sure for whom Express works perfectly Wink
