No, not me. I think it's only use is to make the "beep" at waypoints more audible. _________________ Garmin Nuvi 2599

An earlier User Guide shows this socket as 'Audio jack (AV POIs)", and the Volume Control page notes:
"Audio Playback Volume
This is a volume control when using the audio jack. This function relates to audiovisual Points Of Interest which will be available in a future software update."
Seems like we haven't got there yet.
I haven't tried it, but I'm not sure you can listen to the 'beeps' through this socket. Not sure who'd want to!
Chris, you are correct. I have just followed a route to my local shop. A start point, a destination, 6 waypoints and two poi's. I never heard a thing from my earphones, it still beeped through the loud (sic) speaker. The only time I heard anything was a feint "static/interference" sound when I pushed the buttons to operate it or toggled.
I really did believe that it had the potential to be my Saviour if I ever got into blizzard conditions. I thought that I would be able to shelter in a cairn, plot a safe route off the mountain and I would hear the beep over the howling gale at strategic points to help get me down safely (not that I ever pack a pair of earphones). _________________ Garmin Nuvi 2599
