Routes fine on my XL IQ Live. Clockwise through roundabout

App 9.465
Map Europe_West v900.4602

I use mapshare.

Interestingly looking at mapshare you do have the ability to reverse the direction of this rounadabout and to set it to go anticlockwise if you so wish. If you click on the other roundabouts close by then it tells you, you can't change the restrictions because it is a roundabout.
Problem seems to lay in the fact that TT haven't classified this as a roundabout just a normal road.

ANITA: You say it is OK on "latest software and maps" on your 720, but your signature says v895 maps which are not the latest (v900 are...). Can you confirm?

Oops! I'm so sorry. I usually remember to change my sig when I update the software or map, but I seem to have forgotten this time. Embarassed Now done!

Hang on. I think those of us that say it routes correctly may have been misleading everyone. I've only just noticed this

NOTE to get it to go over that roundabout I had to select the pinpoint destination, as the postcode provided didn't do so.

With the postcodes given by the op the route turns left at the roundabout in question, and I assumed he was being taken anti-clockwise to do so. If I set a route to go straight on at the roundabout it does, indeed, go the wrong way.

I think shires999 has found the answer - it isn't mapped as a roundabout although surely, even if it's an obstacle like an island, it should still route you to the left of it. Confused

Anita has hit the nail on the head. Using Sygic mine was turning left because the postcode given was that way. If I set it to go straight across then it goes the wrong way around the roundabout! Sygic use TomTom maps, so it would appear to be a mapping problem.

The clincher would be for somebody to try it with the latest Apple maps, as they too are from TomTom.

Hi Guys,
Just for clarification, using those postcodes it was directing me the wrong way round the roundabout until last night when Anitas post reminded me and I did my mapshare correction.

Thanks Anita, I've been compiling all the conflicting "works/doesn't work" posts for a report to TomTom, so every extra detail helps a lot.

Aarg! So all the "it works OK" reports so far may be useless!?!?

Please can everyone re-test using a route which goes straight across the small second roundabout into the dead end road at the top (as per Denis' picture):

As already reported done it with Sygic and it does the same (i.e. wrong way), so it is a TomTom mapping issue.

OK tried again using the pinpoint and it doe route incorrectly i.e. takes you anti clockwise.

I'll update it via mapshare now so it works. The approach road to the roundabout allows you to turn left or right.

In fact looking at mapshare all the approach roads are wrong as is teh direction on the roundabout itself

Don't know why I didn't include this information, but on my 520 it does this with Navcore 9.465 and 8.302 (I run 8.302 on SD Card as being the last decent one!).

I find this happens quite often, usually on a "mini-roundabout", I've never thought to try and correct them ... but there are so many errors with roundabouts/speeds etc around here that it would take forever !!

I find this thread most amusing. Three pages of 'Does it?' or 'Doesn't it?' about a roundabout on a road that goes nowhere and I feel that most people probably know that you go round roundabouts in UK in a clockwise direction regardless what your stupid satnav says. Only the same people who would drive into a river or up a railway track would consider going around this one in an anti-clockwise direction. Very Happy Very Happy I think that entwood has summed it up in his second sentence above Very Happy Very Happy

Just goes to prove there are different types of people who make up the world, doesn't it?

My take on it is that if you point out EVERY glaring error you see, it might convince them that they need to either employ more people, spend more money, review their checking methods, or do whatever else it might involve to make the system better.
