I have an iphone 3g that I just use in the car for Camera Alert. The new version on the App Store say's it's compatible with the 3g but it also says it requires IOs 4.3. The 3G only goes up to OS 4.2.1?
is it me?

Unfortunately for any apps to be in the AppStore we have to use the latest version of Apple's development software, XCode. The latest version cannot create any apps for anything below iOS 4.3 so we were forced to do this I'm afraid.
The currently installed version will still continue to run, you just won't be able to get any of the new app updates (although the database updates will still be fine)
I'll see if Mike can change the listing details to remove iPhone 3G compatibility.

Unfortunately I've had to restore my phone and I can't now put the app back on. So that's the end of that then |

Don't you have a backup of the app in iTunes? Usually anytime you backup the phone or even run itunes it will download any apps you have purchased and will allow you to reinstall from there?

I'm only shooting the breeze here,as I have no personal experience of iPhones etc at all, but have you actually tried running iTunes again?
Reading MaFt's post carefully, he seems to be saying that if you just connect to iTunes, it will re-download the apps you have previously purchased.
Maybe that still includes outdated versions? _________________ "Settling in nicely" ;-) |

That would have been nice yes but alas no, Steve (no you cant do that) Job's has firmly put the kibosh on even that. had it still been on my hard drive then yes but as that is now consigned to the bin that's gone as well
I might just swap it for the wife's 3gs and see if she notices |
