Hi,

That's a cracking price..

I went to the both the local PCWorld/Currys and Comet stores on Saturday and I couldn't see any sign at either, although I should have asked them to check stock...

Well it's been an interesting few days.....The short version: on powering up and playing with the device, I discovered that my HD services subscription would expire some time in October - and that my LMG had expired. Obviously the staff in Comet had at the very least switched the device on (and may even have used it for all I know) last October. Anyway.....

A combination of e-mails (with the scanned-in receipt) and a phone call to TT tech support has sorted it all out. And, I have to say, that my experience (luck?) with TT Tech Support was pretty much as good as it gets. Prompt response to e-mails, short wait to talk to someone, helpful, friendly and knowledgeable staff, and everything sorted out without a quibble. Well done guys.

The 8Gb microsdhc card works a treat and good old TT Home asks me if I want to install in internal memory or the card, so no problems there upgrading the map (which now has to go on the card). I've yet to try the HD services but so far I'm a very happy person - and kudos to Tom Tom tech support.

I'll be dropping in to Comet to ask them why they sold me something that was a 'sealed box, sir, yes, brand new, not been opened sir, honest' to see what they have to say for themselves. If I can be bothered, that is....
