Hi, I have a zumo 550 that I have been using with no problems untill I tried to update the latest European maps, I got the warning that my device has insufficient room for the new maps. My question is:-
If I was to put just the UK & Ireland maps on the Zumo along with some mp3 music and the UK speed camera database (2 GB hard drive) and the European maps (3.04 Gb) and the European speed camera database onto a 4GB SD card, would this work?

I realise that I would still have to change the settings to read Km once over the channel, main reason for asking is that every year I go touring in France, Spain, Germany and sometimes into Italy as well

Regards Denis

You can certainly split maps between the zumo and a SD card. You might want to read the tutorials here:

http://cid-c6483e8a197b8356.office.live.com/browse.aspx/.Public/nuvi1490T/Tutorials

one of which explains how to do this on a 1490 but the procedure should be similar for your zumo Smile

Take care using an SD card more than 2Gb. some units will not recognise SDHC cards. You can get a 4Gb SD card which is not SDHC but they are rare. Transcend used to do one. The Zumo may recognise SDHC, though.

Both the Zumo 220 and the Zumo 660 use micro-sd cards and they are SDHC by default....

I can't find a manual for the 550 though. Crying or Very sad

Looks like it's a plain-vanilla SD Card.

Probably worth borrowing an SDHC card to see if it works. If not then the OP may have to stick to 2Gb cards, which are OK to load up extra maps for a particular trip. Perhaps get 2 or 3 cards at 2Gb each?
My Transcend card seems to be no longer available.

I use an 8GB card in my Zumo 550 with no problems. I have put central europe on the unit, and GB on the SD card. Saves a lot of 'clicking' in map install!

Have used a 4GB card in the zumo for some time for my MP3 and POI's. The way I was thinking of using it would be to have the map of GB on the unit along with MP3's and POI's and just European Map and the european speed camera database on the card as the EU map is over 3GB.

Thanks to all who have replied with info and their experiences

Is the latest map too big for the Zumo then?
I'm thinking of updating the map in mine and don't want problems.

That was the message I got when I updated the maps. It would be nice to know how large the Garmin maps are?
I know my zumo 550 hard drive is 2gb, so just how large is the hard drive on the later units (220, 660 etc)? Rolling Eyes
