Go Live 540 v8.371 Not connected to server

Anyone else seeing this, my trusty old 540 running 8.371 has now decided not to connect to the live services, plenty of signal but status states not connected.
Our friends at TomTom assured me that I needed to update to 9.43 which I did, as expected error 1008
Back to the drawing board now back on 8.371

I have 540 with 8.371 and Live services have been working fine all week.
