I bought my go 1005 just before Christmas and find it a very good satnav. I am also having updating issues but only with cameras for Denmark.

First reply was
-This issue may occur if one of the file of Speed Cameras is corrupt. Please update the device by selecting only United Kingdom and Ireland Speed camera services. Please do not select all the speed camera services.

Note: If the issue still persists, please try a different computer AND Internet connection.-

"Not good enough" I said

Next reply - Currently, Speed Camera for Denmark cannot be installed as there are some issues with software of Speed Camera for Denmark. Hence, please avoid installing speed camera for Denmark. However, you could install remaining speed camera services excluding Speed Camera for Denmark.

Our research team is working diligently on this issue. However, we do not know exact time frame.

Once this issue is resolved, you will be able to download Denmark Speed Cameras. -
The updates are still being offered though.

Well if it is speed camera updates every few days then surely that isn't a bad thing? You choose to install or not, and if you have the spare few minutes to install, why not have their best, most up to date version?

I guess the only problem I see, is that it would be nice to have a list of whats being updated in myTomTom app (before going to the web-page and connecting your TomTom) then you could decide more quickly in the knowledge it's not a Map or Application update

I've just received an e-mail reply from TT. They explanied that they have a problem with the software and that they are aware of the problem. Apparently we only need to download the camera database once and then in future it will be updated "over the air". They stated that they will resolve the problem in the next few days and that we should simply ignore the download message from My Tom Tom as long as we have downloaded once.

The e-mail response was very quick and from someone called Raleigh here in the UK. Rather appropriate name I thought.

Alan

Thanks for that as today I am being offered the same update again Sad

I will ignore it...

Until you get a definitive answer, I would take that advice with a LARGE pinch of salt.

AFAIK, fixed cameras do not get updated "over the air ONLY their mobile sites.

And as we know, those mobile sites are only those reported by users as being active "today".

I think it might also have something to do with the temperature of the air! Joker Joker

Having e-mailed TT they state that they are aware of the issue and it is a sofware problem. They advised me to ignore the notification for the forseable future as long as I had downloaded the database once. They are looking to resolve the issue.

Still happens, are they completely incompetent?

The moment I unplug my unit from doing the "One Time" update it says an update is available for my device.

I have just installed them again and so far even after a PC restart it claims my device is up to date.

Only time will tell...

My 1005 has been on the new firmware for two days and guess what message I got today?

20 Items, different from the normal 24....

Wait a minute however...

I guess they can't count either?

How many times do you have to install a one time update?

I thought I may as well try it...

Anyway, it seem to install it several times changing the on-screen message to this...

My 1005 now says on its screen "Something has gone wrong... Check your computer for more information OK"

My computer still displays the screen image.

EDIT:

My Live sub runs out soon and I very much doubt I will bother to renew it.

Had the same error message as you earlier today, contacted support and was told it was a known issue.

Apparently the problem is that the updated cameras (that are added once a week) are missing from the TT server and it should be resolved in next 24 hours hence the error message.

Only download the cameras because of my live subscription and to be fair they do seem to have improved accuracy recently though they remain some way short of the ones on here.

My GO1000 firmware has updated but I keep getting the error when trying to download the speed cameras, and it will take 154 hours to install.

I guess this is the known TomTom server issue?

As the download only seems to be under 1.6Mb I still don't see why we have to dock our devices to receive it, are they 3G devices?

TT do seem also to have a lot of known problems.

It is a shame they don't fix them.
