I've just returned from a 700 mile trip in California where the Go was worth its weight in gold. However, now I've changed maps back to Western Europe the unit I've found it isn't recognised by my computer (I've had to press reset to get it to do so) and all my POI warnings and my 'home' location have been lost.

I have got a backup which I made made by copying all the TT files across to my desktop computer before I left for the trip but the unit keeps complaining that there isn't enough space to copy them back across.

Anyone any ideas for getting around this? Can I just copy a few files across to get it back to where it was, or do I have to go through setting up the POI warnings all over again?

TIA

Go to the Europe map folder in your back up and locate the "MapSettings.cfg" file, copy this file to the Europe folder on the device to get all your settings back - Mike

The USA map is deleted on my 930 until it is required and vice versa.

That way there is loads of room.

Also you could put the USA map onto an SD card and remove it when not required.

Thanks: appreciated!

Done it twice and the 20.2KB file transfers fine, but when I go to plan a route I'm asked for the country, I choose UK and find there are no favourites or POI warnings.

Any further ideas would be gratefully received!

I hadn't dare do anything like that. Thanks!

Have you deleted/removed voices that you don't use? There are also lots of other files such as Eluas and TTS that are in foreign tongues that you can delete. Browse your backup file and I'm sure you will find plenty that you don't need!! Once you decide delete them off your TT.

Going back to your Favourites problem.....

Try this, it USUALLY works.

Connect the TomTom to your computer and paste the old MapSettings.cfg file from the Western Europe folder in your backup into th Western Europe folder on the TomTom again.

Then, before you do anything else, run Home and go to "Operate my Go" on the last page.

Using the on-screen emulator, create a new Favourite (it doesn't matter where).
Use the icon in the bottom right corner of Home to safely disconnect the Go.

Once it has re-booted, see if your settings and Favourites have returned.

Thanks for the suggestion. I had resisted the temptation to delete anything as I didn't want to end up with a very expensive doorstop! Perhaps now is the time...

Thanks for the suggestion but it didn't work. I've got the new favourite but nothing else.
