|
|
When I use the "prepare route" facility and I get to the page where I am asked when I will depart, If I choose the "specific date and time" option, I get by default Thursday the 1st January 1970.
I cannot seem to be able to alter the date to todays date, however, if I connect to Tomtom home and operate my Go, the date is shown as todays date.
Disconnect and the date on the unit at that page is back to 1970.
Whats going on ?
Edited to say this is a 730 GO |

Quite normal when used in doors, without a GPS position fix the device defaults back to some bye-gone time which is why you see 1970, take it outside and let it acquire a GPS fix and will know where it is and the time of day as well as the correct date - Mike |

In those circumstances my 720 still shows the current date and time.
Could it be a failing battery causing the device to "forget" the information? _________________ Anita

Its quite possible the device has the correct date due it having a valid GPS fix even when in doors, if the battery is dead then you need to take that issue up with the idiot that changed it less than four months ago
Seriously, if the battery isn't performing then it must be a dud, you should be getting circa 1,5 to 2,0 hours from a fully charged battery when not running on the car charger - Mike |

Sorry, Mike, I should have made it clearer that I was asking if the OP's problem could be caused by a failing battery. Mine was changed by an expert with vast experience of fitting batteries, and is working just fine, thanks!
But even when my 720 is telling me it's lost its GPS fix it shows the correct time and date as the default when preparing a route. _________________ Anita

Yes, I feel a bit stupid now. I had followed a tip I read earlier and while it was switched off, pressed the reset button to properly shut it down.
I then left it for about 2 weeks and was indeed "fiddling" with it last night, when I noticed the problem.
Sure enough, when I let it aquire the sattelites the date had been set.
Thanks all, panic over. |
