Just in case anyone else has had the same problem as me with not being able to operate my GO from HOME since the update, if you try it now a file is offered which when downloaded allows the function once more. _________________ Mike

Thanks Mike.
Everybody on the new software would have had the same problem. |

Cheers Andy_P, I didn't realise it affected everybody, I must have missed that (.. Spec Savers ... etc ...)
I notice that the battery indication is on screen in 'Operate my GO' and that it cycles from fully charged to battery low and back again, I remember seeing a similar feature on the right hand side in route / map overview prior to this update, but can't for the life of me understand what it's supposed to do for me
All thats left now is for them to tell me why my shutdown voice plays when I connect my 940 to HOME _________________ Mike

Assuming you mean the shutdown sound in Windows, the most common reason for this would be that your Windows sound events are incorrectly assigned. Check the following in Windows:
Control Panel,
Sound,
Sounds tab
Program Events:
scroll down to Device Connect
You should see in the Sounds; bar below "Windows Hardware Insert.wav" but you may have the shutdown sound selected instead. Different sound schemes will have different selections here, but the sound you select here is what is played when the event happens such as plugging in a device, such as the Go.
Use the Test button to listen to the sound, some sound remarkably similar. _________________ Drivelux |

Sorry Mr T, I obviously didn't make myself clear, although I did mention it earlier in the thread.
I have a shutdown voice assigned to my 940 for when I turn it off, since the update this voice has also played when I click YES to connect the unit to HOME. TT supports advice was to uninstall and reinstall the voice, I've tried this several times including rebooting the PC and the 940 in between steps, but what ever I do it still happens.
It's not a big issue, I can just delete the voice, but it's another step back for me after taking a few forwards. _________________ Mike

In that case could you be getting the shutdown voice as the Go shuts down and restarts in order to connect to Home when you press the Yes button? Then if that was the case why did it not happen before? _________________ Drivelux |

I don't think the device restarts when connecting to home does it
It never used to do it before.
Would you, or someone else with a 940, be willing to try adding a shutdown voice and see if you get the same problem? _________________ Mike

Mine definitely restarts when pressing YES to connect to computer and I added a shutdown sound and it plays when this happens. _________________ Drivelux |

Thanks for trying that MrT, much appreciated.
I know the screen changes to the TT logo on pressing YES but I didn't think that was a reboot or restart, I just thought it was going into communication mode so to speak.
This definately didn't happen under navcore 8x so I'll let you know what support say, if anything.
Thanks for your efforts once again, as I said before it's not the end of the world if the voice has to go. _________________ Mike

Also on the shutdown issue I notice the backlight stays on bright with the shutdown screen, before it used to turn off or dim with the shutdown screen. _________________ Drivelux |

Have been in touch with TomTom, Friday, and, after trying several things, they said it was a fault at their end. Had to send my system information but have not had an update yet. |
The latest on the problem is that support have asked me to reinstall etc without any luck.
Now that the file is now available in Home to use ‘Operate My Go’ there are some strange occurrences that might help identify the problem.
Went into ‘Operate My Go’ & Traffic was showing. Checked & Live appears to be working.
Went into itinerary planning & an old itinerary was showing. Checked recent destinations and the ones from today were showing.
Added new itinerary for tomorrow, and let it plan some journeys so I could get some timings.
Disconnected from computer
Went to actual TomTom and traffic was no longer showing.
Checked itinerary and the one I had put in for tomorrow had disappeared and today’s was back.
Checked recent destinations and the ones for tomorrow, that I had let it plan, were there.
I am confused but I bet there will be someone that isn't and will know the answer
Has nobody got any ideas? _________________ Alan

Finally updated to v9.058 yesterday, today it's been awful. Every half an hour or so it's been losing the live services. The traffic bar just disappears and then wont reconnect until after a reset. Back to 8.371 I think, shame as I do like the new version. _________________ Keith

Tried 9.058 utter rubbish, I need live services quicker than 5 minutes as am close to M1, Live drops out more now over the Woodhead Pass (or is it because it just takes so long to reconnect) However dropped out on M1 never did that before. Some reboots now as well. Going back to 8.371
If I contact TomTom support they will blame 3rd party icons again I guess
If they bother to hover over this forum then....they broke it with 9.054 and 9.058.
I don't need sexy pushes on and off, what I need is solid quick accurate HD traffic service, I am watching the road not the TOMTOM screen
Another phone call that will be a waste of time, speaking to someone who reads a script and really isn't that interested in helping as the rules will be set by someone who thinks they know better...rant over |
