The combination Emtac Bluetooth GPS and Ipaq 5450 and Fugawi doesnot work well as the position is delayed about 3- 400 meters when sailing and using BSB sea charts. When stopping the the position after a while is right again- position crosschecked with GarminGPS.
Read about this problem before also with Ipaq 3970 and Emtac/Fugawi but not seen a solution.
Seems like the Ipaqs bluetooth software is buffering the NMEAsignals from the EmtacGPS as apparently the Emtac bluetooth doesnt buffer.
Any advice to solve the problem?
Bengt

I've not tried the iPaq version, but I can tell you that Fugawi for the Palm is garbage. It was slow as hell -- probably accounts for the lags you're having. Try testing the position with some free software and see if you have the same problem, I doubt that you will.

My Emtac works like a charm on my Palm using PathAway, but I had no end of problems (and slowness) with Fugawi.

Anthony

To avoid misunderstanding
Fugawi is excellent on most Ipaqs- I have at present an IPaq 2210 and use it with Fugawi and Fortuna bluetooth and have no problems at all-an excellent combination always keeping the fix

The problem I present with delayed position has occurred in the combination Ipaq5XXX/Fugawi/Emtacbluetooth and I have noticed it at several occasions but not seen a solution- Maybe theEmtac bluetooth GPS is a lousy one?

I have used the iPAQ 3650 together with Fugawi connected via a serial cable to a Garmin handheld GPS without any position inaccuracy whatsoever.

I am now trying to use an iPAQ 2210 with the Socket BT GPS (Emtac) and the very same version of Fugawi (latest rev - non ENC), with BSB charts again (as before) and I get the same problems that you have reported with your iPAQ 5xxx. My position, according to the charted display, is consistently 20 or more seconds behind. I've tried using CRUX II to adjust the SBAS setting, but that has no effect on the delayed position. I've also noticed a similar delay while using MS Pocket Streets, although it doesn't seem to be as far off as Fugawi.

I read a post on the Socket site that said that changing the driver to a NMEA 4800 will solve it, but I have no idea of how to do that - anyone??

Regards,
JKB

I believe what they mean is to set the baud rate to 4800 within the GPS setup of the Fugawi software. I could be wrong though.
